Digital Documentation of the Materiality and Spatial Context of Ancient Egyptian Decorated Tombs
The project aims at creating a database enabling the management and dissemination of large data-sets gathering high-resolution orthorectified digital images, 3D models, epigraphic representations, imaging resulting from non-invasive physico-chemical analyses, conservation assessment cartography and report, as well as archaeological description of each monument. This documentation could be accessed and queried through the use of a specifically designed geographical information system (GIS) considering the numerous monuments of Western Thebes. The database would form a high-level knowledge base interesting the scientific community, the site managers in charge of this gigantic open-air museum, the conservators ensuring its preservation as well as any archaeology enthusiast.
